Barbara is a certified Reiki II practitioner in the Usui Shiko Ryoho tradition. She received her certification in August, 2003. Barbara’s interest in Reiki was sparked when a loved one, JB, was diagnosed and treated for cancer. She originally scheduled the appointment for JB, but he insisted she go instead. After her attunement, she realized she would like to learn Reiki for her own use. When the opportunity to study with Mary Montgomery presented itself, JB insisted Barbara attend and offered to pay for the training in April of 2003. The training helped Barbara through a difficult time in life and she decided to pursue Reiki II training. Barbara is dedicated to the belief that everyone holds the answer to their own healing. Reiki can assist the client in hearing his or her own inner wisdom, while energizing the healing system.
Reiki in Japanese translates as “Universal Life Energy.” The Reiki practitioner does not heal the client, rather, s/he acts as a catalyst to enliven the client’s own ability to heal. Reiki can alleviate the symptoms of illness and provide the client with a calm, balanced outlook. The Reiki tradition is handed down from teacher to student. Reiki sessions are available by appointment and can last from 60-90 minutes. Sessions can be scheduled in your home, office or in Barbara’s home office in Northeast Austin. The charge for a Reiki attunement is $75.
